The Single (And Not So Single) Girls Guide to Throwing the Perfect Summer Soiree

  1. Have a Great Theme - All great parties start with an EVEN BETTER THEME. Remember college, and dressing up for themed parties? It was fun right? AND summer is all about fun…so, pick a theme. A few suggestions below.
    1. Baywatch Babes - Break out those red bathing suits and maybe even watch Zac Efron in the re-make. Your girls will be all about it and, if they aren’t invite me!
    2. Rosé All Day - Have your girls come in pink and keep the rosé or frosé flowing ALL DAY LONG.
    3. Southern Belles - Break out those BIG HATS and pastel colors and make sure you have plenty of spiked Sweet Tea on Hand.
  2. Cute Decor is a Must -  You can’t have the perfect summer soiree without cute decor. Soo, make sure you check out Oh Happy Day or even Etsy for all your party decorating needs!

3. Themed Desserts - Nothing makes for a better party then having sweet treats on hand AND what’s better then a sweet treat to go with your theme! Sticking with our party themes above, here are some fun desserts you could possibly make.
  1. Baywatch Babes - Nilla Wafer Beach Sand Cups - Recipe from All Recipes
  2. Rosé All Day - Raspberry Rosé Wine Cupcakes  - Recipe from Go Bold With Butter
  3. Southern Belles - Mini Cherry Pies  - Recipe from OMG Chocolate Desserts
4. Have a Good Party Game - You have to keep your guests entertained, so break out Cards Against Humanity or play that game where you can’t say a certain word the entire night (BUT have each of your guests choose a word to keep it interesting.) Or maybe try this game called Drama Queen that I found on partycurrent.com.  Rules below…
Like Charades Relay, this game involves acting out life scenarios. This time, tailor them to be specific to your life.
For example – someone who loves the bar scene; or who works in a busy office; or who goes to the gym every day. Write out two identical lists.
  • Tear each list into strips, with each list getting a bowl
  • Split everyone into two even teams. Players take it in turns to act out a scenario for their group to guess
  • The fastest team to complete the list wins.
5. Create a Signature Cocktail- EVERYONE is going to be talking about your party when they hear that not only did you have THEMED DESSERTS but a SIGNATURE COCKTAIL as well. It’s one thing to have wine and beer to share BUT you’ll be on a whole other level when you come out with cute themed cocktails. Here are some ideas sticking with our three themes.
  1. Baywatch Babes - Strawberry Pina Coladas - This virgin recipe from Divas Can Cook can easily be turned into an alcoholic version as well.
  2. Rosé All Day - Frosé -This Recipe from Bon Appetite is sure to leave you and your girls feeling refreshed!
  3. Southern Belles - Spiked Sweet Tea - There’s nothing more southern then sweet tea! Serve this recipe from Food Network alcoholic or not.
If you end up throwing a fabulous summer soiree using any of these tips or have some to add, let me know! I’d love to hear!
